Seed starting your owns plants is so satisfying and saves you a couple hundred dollars each year. Seeds do not need light to germinate they only need water and heat. You will need some space to do so but I do mine in my unfinished basement and it works well for me. You will need shelves, grow lights, spray bottle, soil, pots, warming mats, timer and seeds. Start by planting your seeds, cover with plastic wrap or cover provided to mimic a greenhouse effect wait 7-14 days for germination after placing on the heat mats. After germination you are ready to uncover them and place them under the grow lights. Attach your grow lights to the bottom of your shelves and put a timer on them for 12-16 hours of light. Water them regularly. According to when you start them you may have to up pot them due to their size. For example I started my tomato plants this year first of February and they are huge so I have had to up pot them twice. It is a bit of labor but so worth it!
